Newport, Ark. –
An Indiana man arrested in 2008 by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit pled guilty last Wednesday in Jackson County Circuit Court.
James Paul Morrison entered a guilty plea before Jackson County Circuit Judge Kevin King last Wednesday and received a 42 month sentence in the Arkansas Department of Correction on charges of Internet Stalking of a Child, Sexual Indecency with a Child and Computer Child Pornography.
The arrest resulted after Investigator Rickey Morales, posing as a 14-year-old female, initiated a computer chat with Morrison Oct. 8, 2008.
Based on the content of the “chat” session, officials executed a search warrant at Morrison’s Jonesboro hotel on Oct. 9, 2008, less than 24 hours later.
Morrison, who was working as a contractor at the time of his arrest Nov, 3, 2008, was taken into custody by Morales and Jackson County Sheriff David Lucas.
